As a Sergeant, he was assigned to Patrol, as well as the Neighborhood Conditions Unit and Special Operations.</p><p>In 2005, he was promoted to Lieutenant, where he served as a Tour Commander, the Executive Officer of Patrol and then as Patrol Commander.</p><p>In 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and served a year as the commanding Officer of the Patrol Division, and was then assigned as Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division. He was promoted to Assistant Chief in December of 2018 and Chief of Police in July of 2019.</p><p>He is a proud graduate of the FBI’s National Academy Class 270, 2017.</p><p>Deputy Commissioner Castelli is a certified police instructor and holds a B. S. in Organizational Management from Manhattan College and an Assoc. in Criminal Justice from Westchester Community College.</p></article></div></div></div></div>								</div>

									<p>During his time in Patrol, he served as a Field Training Officer, was a Department Armorer and was a member of the Department’s Special Response Team.</p><p>In 2004, he became a member of the newly created Emergency Service Unit. He served in the unit until his promotion to Sergeant in 2006.</p><p>As a Sergeant, he returned to the Patrol Division supervising patrol squads and coordinating the recruit field training program.</p><p>In 2014, he was promoted to Lieutenant and served as a Department Tour Commander supervising patrol operations for his patrol squads.</p><p>In 2021 he was re-assigned to the Community Advocacy Strategic Initiative Division. During his time there, he served as the Executive Officer of the Division overseeing the Department’s Domestic Violence Unit, Mental Health Outreach Unit, Recruiting/Background Investigations Unit and School Resource Officers.</p><p>He was promoted to Captain in March of 2022 and assumed command of the Patrol Division before his reassignment to Criminal Investigations.</p>								</div>

									<p>In December 2012, Captain Battaglia became the department’s Field Training Coordinator, and in August 2013 he was promoted to Sergeant, continuing as head of the Field Training Program.  He was promoted to Lieutenant in July 2019 and served as a Tour Commander in the Patrol Division for the day and night tours.  In November 2020, he additionally assumed command of the newly established Neighborhood Initiative Unit.  In June 2021, he was promoted to Executive Officer of the Patrol Division and served in that role until August of 2025, when he was promoted to Captain and Commanding Officer of the Patrol Division.</p><p>Captain Battaglia is a general topics instructor with the Division of Criminal Justice Services, with specialties in RADAR/LIDAR, Field Training, Field Sobriety Testing, Chemical Spray Devices and Defensive Tactics and Principled Policing.  He is a certified instructor evaluator and holds Master Instructor status.  Captain Battaglia holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, with a specialization in Operations and Management, from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  He was honored by the Business Council of Westchester as a top 40 under 40 employee.</p>								</div>

									<p data-start="722" data-end="909">As Captain, Chief McMahon led the Special Operations Division, which encompasses the Emergency Services Unit (ESU), Special Response Team (SRT), K-9 Unit, Traffic Unit, and Training Unit.</p><p data-start="911" data-end="1167">Prior to his promotion to Captain, Chief McMahon built a diverse operational and supervisory background. He began his career as a Patrol Officer and later served as a Field Training Officer and member of the Special Response Team. He was assigned to the Neighborhood Conditions Unit in 2013 and the Emergency Services Unit in 2014. In October 2015, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Patrol Division, and in January 2017 transferred to Special Operations as Sergeant of the Neighborhood Conditions Unit. He was promoted to Lieutenant in December 2018 and served as the Executive Officer of the Special Operations Division, gaining broad leadership and administrative experience prior to his promotion to Captain in July 2021.</p>								</div>
