Deputy Commissioner John W. Roland has close to 40 years in the Public Safety profession. He was appointed on September 1st, 2022.

Deputy Commissioner Roland rose through the ranks of the Mount Vernon Police Department from Police Officer to Chief of Police.

After he retired from Mount Vernon PD, he rose from Police Captain to Full Inspector within the Port Authority of NY/NJ commanding their largest command (Fire/Police) at JFK Airport.

He retired as the Administrator of Operations working directly for the Superintendent of the PAPD.

During his brief retirement, Deputy Commissioner Roland served on the Eastchester Police Advisory Board and was Chairman of the Eastchester Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Committee.
