WHITE PLAINS, NY – March 30, 2026 – On Monday morning, March 30, 2026, the White Plains Police Department successfully resolved an incident involving a suspicious device, ensuring the safety of the community.
 
The White Plains PD first received calls reporting a possible transformer explosion in the area of Odell Avenue at approximately 4:28 AM. Units responded and conducted checks of numerous transformers but found no evidence of damage.
 The situation changed at approximately 6:08 AM, when a White Plains police officer observed what appeared to be a small explosive device near the doorway of an apartment building at 11 Odell Avenue. Additional units immediately responded to establish a perimeter, and residents in the vicinity were instructed to shelter in place as a precautionary measure.
 
The White Plains PD Emergency Services Unit, working in collaboration with the Westchester County Hazardous Devices Unit, responded to the scene and rendered it safe. The device was successfully secured and turned over to the Westchester County Police Department. The matter is currently under investigation by the White Plains Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of Federal Law Enforcement partners. The White Plains PD is currently interviewing two people of interest in this continuing investigation.
 
We are pleased to report that there were no reported injuries to anyone or damage to any property. At this time, there appears to be no ongoing threat to the public, and our citizens are safe to resume normal activity in the area. There may be some temporary road closures. We understand that this morning’s events caused concern, and we want to assure the public that the safety of our residents remains our top priority.
