The Public Safety Civilian’s Academy is an instructional program designed to provide the White Plains resident with an understanding of the science and art of policing, firefighting and emergency medical services. The comprehensive program is designed to provide information on the law enforcement/firefighting/EMS industry and its government principles.
The Civilian’s Academy exposes residents to a number of current police/firefighting/EMS issues and the latest White Plains Public Safety Department procedures. It is not our intention to train residents to take police/fire action, but to provide them with an overview of the training received and functions performed by our members. Training is provided by White Plains Police Officers and Firefighters who have experience in the related subject areas.
The Civilian’s Academy is offered in the evening over a nine consecutive week period, with classes once per week. Classes begin at 7:00 p.m. and conclude at 9:00 p.m.
