WHITE PLAINS, NY — April 9, 2026 — The White Plains Police Department has arrested and charged a suspect in connection with a sexual assault that occurred Tuesday in the City Center.
Following an immediate response after being called, police apprehended Xavier Fonseca Overton, 22, of Astoria, Queens. Overton has been charged with the following:
- Rape in the 1st Degree (B Felony) – Five Counts
- Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree (D Felony) – One Count
The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned today in White Plains City Court.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the suspect and the victim were known to each other prior to the assault. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and the privacy of the victim, no further details regarding the incident will be released at this time.
