Captain Larry Johnson began his career with the Department in 1981.
During his career he served as a uniformed Patrolman in the Patrol Division before being transferred to a plainclothes detail in the Street Crime Unit. He was promoted to the rank Detective in 1988.
He later achieved the rank of Sergeant in 1991. He became the Executive Officer of the Traffic Division in 1992 prior to taking over as the Traffic Division Commander in 1993.
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1994 and served as a Tour Commander prior to becoming a member of the Command Staff where he worked on special projects and other administrative duties.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain in December 2018.
