Celebrating 250 Years of America… and White Plains’ Place in the Story.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, every member of the White Plains Police Department has been presented with a commemorative America 250 shoulder patch and matching challenge coin. You may already notice some of our officers proudly wearing the new patch while on patrol.

These commemorative pieces are more than collectibles – they are reminders of the extraordinary history that unfolded right here in White Plains. During the Revolutionary War, our city played a pivotal and high-stakes role in the fight for American independence. The Battle of White Plains and the events that surrounded it helped shape the course of our nation’s history and our nation’s path to independence.

As we begin this yearlong celebration leading up to America’s 250th birthday, we are proud to honor not only those who serve our community today, but also the generations of Americans whose courage and sacrifice made our freedoms possible.

A special thank you goes to two of our own whose creativity brought these commemorative pieces to life. Police Officer Laura Dalava designed the commemorative shoulder patch, and Police Officer Ryan Wiley designed the challenge coin. Their outstanding work has created lasting symbols of our Department’s pride, our City’s remarkable history, and the enduring spirit of America.

We are honored to wear these symbols of service, history, and patriotism – and proud to serve a community whose story is woven into the very fabric of our nation’s founding.

Happy America 250 from the White Plains Police Department.
