The City of White Plains Department of Public Safety is very concerned regarding the welfare of those in our community who are the most vulnerable during the winter season.

All of our Uniformed First Responders have been tasked with “Patrolling in Special Attention to Homeless Outreach”.

Our Officers have been specially trained in dealing with and engaging the homeless population and are well equipped to link them with the resources that are available.

We also have a specialized Homeless Outreach Team who work closely with the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health. During this time of year, they seek out the most vulnerable where they typically attempt to shelter themselves on the street, in stairwells, and parking structures, etc. The most recent Winter Point in Time (PIT) count was conducted on January 26th.

You can also help. To report the location of a Homeless/Vulnerable Person in need of shelter please call (914) 422-6111.
