National Police Week serves as a time of reflection, remembrance, and appreciation for the men and women of law enforcement who dedicate their lives to protecting others.

Throughout this week, communities across the nation pause to honor those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, while also recognizing the continued service, commitment, and professionalism of those who wear the badge today.

Observed each May, National Police Week brings together law enforcement agencies, survivors, and community members in a shared tribute to fallen officers and the enduring mission of public safety. It is both a solemn remembrance and a reminder of the deep bond between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

Here in White Plains, we proudly pause to remember two members of our Department who gave their lives in the line of duty while serving this community. Their legacies remain a cornerstone of our Department’s history.

Police Officer Charles T. Palamara
End of Watch: June 26, 1946
More than seven decades later, Officer Palamara’s service and sacrifice remain an enduring part of our Department’s legacy.

Detective Michael R. Perry
End of Watch: June 12, 2010
Detective Perry died in the line of duty after suffering a fatal heart attack shortly after chasing and arresting a suspect. He served the City of White Plains with honor, professionalism, and dedication.

We encourage our community to learn more about these heroes and their service through the Officer Down Memorial Page.

A Commitment to Service

As we observe National Police Week, we also recognize the men and women of the White Plains Department of Public Safety who continue to protect and serve our city each day. Their commitment often requires personal sacrifice, long hours away from loved ones, and an unwavering dedication to the safety of others.

We ask our community to join us this week in:

  • Remembering the fallen and the legacy they left behind.
  • Supporting the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
  • Showing appreciation to the officers who continue the mission of public service with integrity, professionalism and respect.

We will never forget those who gave everything in service to our community.
