Over the past two weeks, this Department has been experiencing incidents of motor vehicle thefts, specifically 2024 – 2025 Honda CRVs.
All incidents seem to be taking place after owners park their vehicles in municipal parking lots during their morning commute.
The perpetrators in these thefts were able to easily force entry into the vehicles without setting off alarms and have possibly used a reprogramming tool to create new key fobs during these vehicle thefts.
We strongly suggest that Honda owners take the following measures that may assist law enforcement in the event their vehicles are stolen:
- Sign up to Honda Link Tracking Services – GPS device that tracks vehicles.
- Place an Apple Airtag device in their vehicle.
- Report any suspicious activity.
Rest assured that our investigators have developed a pattern sheet that has been distributed to all Patrol sectors so they can give this issue the attention it needs.
