February is Teen Dating Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month

Did you know that 1 in 3 teens experiences some form of dating abuse before age 18? That’s not just physical violence — it includes controlling behaviors, emotional manipulation, and other warning signs that often go unnoticed.

This month is more than a hashtag — it’s a call to understand and act. It’s a time to learn the difference between healthy relationships and harmful ones, to recognize red flags, and to be a supportive friend, parent, teacher, or ally.

Healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
Healthy relationships are built on respect, trust, and communication. Unhealthy ones might include:

  • Excessive checking up or isolating you from friends and family
  • Criticism, insults, or controlling what you wear.
  • Pressure to do things you’re not comfortable with.
  • If anything feels wrong — trust your instincts.

Let’s talk about it.

This month, let’s break the silence around teen dating abuse — because awareness matters, and prevention saves lives. Share this post. Start a conversation. Reach out if you or someone you know needs support.
