WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The White Plains Police Department (WPPD) provides the following update regarding the ongoing investigation into the abandoned infant.
First and foremost, the department is pleased to confirm that the infant is currently at an area hospital and is in stable condition. Westchester County Child Protective Services is aiding in the child’s future care.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Multiple crime scenes have been processed or are nearing completion, and investigators are continuing to conduct numerous witness and informational interviews.
A suspect has been identified and is in custody. The department is working in close conjunction with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office regarding potential criminal charges.
The WPPD acknowledges that this is a heartrending incident for our community. We extend our sincere gratitude to Shoprite, the City Center, and all members of the public who have assisted in this case. Additionally, we would like to recognize the valuable support provided by the Harrison Police Department, the Westchester County Police Department, and the Westchester Real Time Crime Center, as well as the diligent work of our own officers and detectives.
