WHITE PLAINS, NY – March 31, 2026 – Part of the White Plains Department of Public Safety’s core mission is to provide unbiased, comprehensive protection and services to the residents and visitors of the City of White Plains.

Yesterday, our city faced reported threats that required an immediate and decisive response. The men and women of the White Plains Police Department responded to these threats, and with the essential help of our local and federal partners, we successfully rendered the community safe.
We want to assure the residents of White Plains that their safety remains our highest priority. We can confirm that there are no explosive materials currently present in the first-floor apartment at 11 Odell Avenue, and that the immediate neighborhood is safe. There is no ongoing threat to the people living on Odell Avenue or surrounding streets.

Due to the nature of this investigation and the expertise and resources needed to thoroughly investigate this incident, the scene and the investigation were turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

We extend our sincere thanks to the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, FBI JTTF, ATF, and Westchester County Police Department for their swift and decisive assistance in helping us achieve our mission. This coordinated response highlights the invaluable strength of our interagency partnerships.

The subject of interest, who was taken into custody by the White Plains Police Department is a White Plains resident—a white male in his 60s. This morning, he has been turned over to the FBI.

Any further inquiries regarding this subject or the ongoing federal investigation should be addressed to the FBI New York Press Office.

Wade C. Hardy
Commissioner of Public Safety
