Fire Lieutenant Ian Prauda
Lieutenant Ian Prauda was born and raised in White Plains and attended the White Plains School District, graduating in 1985. Following graduation, he worked in the carpentry industry and later earned certification from New York State as a Journeyman Carpenter.
On June 9, 1997, Lt. Prauda was appointed to the White Plains Fire Department. After graduating from Recruit Class III-97, he was assigned to Group 2, where he gained extensive experience operating a variety of apparatus and also served as the Deputy Chief’s Aide.
In September 2004, Lt. Prauda was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Group 4, where he proudly continues to serve today. As Group 4 Training Officer, he has played a key role in coordinating and developing training opportunities, helping to ensure members are prepared to meet the challenges of the job.
Throughout his career, Lt. Prauda has demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of the Department. He was an integral member of the Communications Committee and a founding member of the Department’s Heavy Rescue Company.
Today, Lt. Prauda serves at Station 6. With nearly three decades of dedicated service, he continues to share his experience, knowledge, and leadership with the members of the White Plains Fire Department, leaving a lasting impact on those who have had the privilege to serve alongside him.
